Jaywalker at Taman Jurong – 20130522

Luckily I was driving at a slow speed of around 40 to 45 km/h along a residential road, I never expect this old idiot to walk out in front of the car besides me and nearly bang into this idiot!

This idiot is putting himself in harms way as crossing at a traffic junction is definitely a no-no, because at an uncontrolled traffic junction cars are turning in and out of the junctions in many directions which the pedestrian or driver might not be aware of each other presence thus causing a fatal accident.

Singapore Formula 1 2010 – Part 1

Last weekend, it was the Formula 1 weekend here in Singapore and it’s the world’s only Formula 1 night race street circuit. Weiyu, my brother and I bought a 3 days walkabout Zone 4 pass.

The weather during practice days were fairly cool but humid due to the rain in the afternoon, but on race day… IT’S WAS LIKE A FURNACE!

As I’m writing this post, I’m feeling kind of feverish due to the cool and hot weather plus lack of sleep during the Formula 1 weekend. Below are some shots which I think are top 4 in those shots that I have shoot during the weekend.

More to come in Part 2… πŸ™‚

I have been noticing that my new car has been attracting quite a bit of attention from pedestrians, drivers and friends.

Just yesterday afternoon while going to meet Francis at Yishun with Noel, while stopping at a traffic crossing, there was this pedestrian who was staring hard at my car. Bet that he never seen a nice looking and sporty Honda before… lol

But well, that isn’t the first incident. Few days after getting my car, while on my way back home along Upper Thomson Road, after dropping off the Boyd family. At a traffic stop, a car besides my horned and the driver pointed to my car and gave me a thumb up. Also I have noticed that while on the road, some drivers will look at my car, slowed down and drives behind me to see what model of Honda I’m driving.

And just about 2 hours ago after sending Kelly back to her home. While driving towards Portsdown flyover towards AYE at the slip-road, a NPC patrol car stopped me and pulled over to the road shoulder. Well, first thing that came to my mind is am I going to be asked to blow into a breath analyzer? But hell NO! The 2 police officers walked over to my car and asked me what model is the Honda car I’m driving, how much is the pricing, is it a hybrid and if I bought it from parallel importers or Kah Motors. After answering their queries, one of the officers told me that my car looked unique, nice and sporty πŸ™‚

Well, in case you have not seen a Honda Insight before, here a picture of it.

It kind of look similar to Honda FCX Clarity which is only available in the US. Honda FCX Clarity is a hydrogen fuel cell car which is only available on lease from Honda US.

Last week I posted that I get my new Honda Insight immediately after I pass my driving test.

Here are the photos of my new ride for those who have waited long enough to see the photos πŸ™‚

Yyeeaahhhhhh! Passed my driving test today and immediately after the test I went down to Bukit Batok HDB Branch Office to apply for the season parking for the car park at my home and my office.

Sigh 😦 But the car park allocated to me for my office area is about 200 meters away from my office building. The reason given by the HDB counter staff was the car park space available in my office building and near it all has been allocated to residents in the area and the quota for drivers working in the area all has been filled up.

So I will have to try during my next renewal of the season parking to check for available parking space near my office.

After settling the season parking, I took a cab to Turf City to collect my new Honda Insight πŸ™‚

Took it for a spin from Bukit Timah to Airport and back to Jurong. Woah! It’s real tiring, but the satisfaction of driving is…. HAPPY! πŸ™‚

Gotta sign off here. Time for my late dinner.

Overall, I think it’s an awesome race event and a first car versus plane race event I have ever attended.

However, it would be better it the emcee of the race event are either Jeremy Clarkson, James May or Richard Hammond cause the local emcees voice just can’t make it, they just sound too boring.

Prehaps the BBC Top Gear team should have a Top Gear Live show here in Singapore to show the local production crews what a race event should be like. Talking about Top Gear, here a clip of Richard Hammond in a Buggati Veyron racing again a Eurofighter.

After the event, Noel and I went over to Marina Square to meet up with Ann and Drayden as Ann needs to get some stuff from there. After we head over Harvey Norman at Millenia Walk as I have wanted to get Ann her birthday present. Hope she is happy with the HP MiniNote as her birthday present :)… Noel, don’t be jealous, yours is coming soon.

While waiting for the sales person to exchange the HP MiniNote, I took a few shots of Drayden grinning at my camera.

I HATE PUBLIC TRANSPORT!!!

It’s not easy to survive when you are tired from work and have to take a public transport home. For me, my mode of public transportation is taking the bus home. Just imagine, you have to squeeze on crowded bus packed to the brim; foul smelling people in the bus; bus driver from China who can’t converse in English; bus driver from China who drives onto the wrong route; the hard braking and sudden acceleration (esp buses from SBS Transit) and worst of all to have a mentally challenged person in the bus making hell lot of noise!

This evening while I was on bus 197 heading towards Jurong East, a fat, big size, mid-20s mentally challenged dude got on the bus from NUH and sat beside me. I was almost squashed by him due to his weight and his shorted mind can’t tell him that there’s somebody else sitting next to him.

Throughout the journey from NUH to Cycle & Carriage at AYE, I was squeezed in between this mentally challenged dude and the sidewall of the bus while typing out this blogpost. He was also doling out nursery rhymes.

I have ENOUGH OF ALL THESE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SHIT!

When I get my driving license in November, I’m gonna buy a second hand car and forgo public transport.

Well, here are few of the car models that I have shortlisted.
