I HATE PUBLIC TRANSPORT!!!

It’s not easy to survive when you are tired from work and have to take a public transport home. For me, my mode of public transportation is taking the bus home. Just imagine, you have to squeeze on crowded bus packed to the brim; foul smelling people in the bus; bus driver from China who can’t converse in English; bus driver from China who drives onto the wrong route; the hard braking and sudden acceleration (esp buses from SBS Transit) and worst of all to have a mentally challenged person in the bus making hell lot of noise!

This evening while I was on bus 197 heading towards Jurong East, a fat, big size, mid-20s mentally challenged dude got on the bus from NUH and sat beside me. I was almost squashed by him due to his weight and his shorted mind can’t tell him that there’s somebody else sitting next to him.

Throughout the journey from NUH to Cycle & Carriage at AYE, I was squeezed in between this mentally challenged dude and the sidewall of the bus while typing out this blogpost. He was also doling out nursery rhymes.

I have ENOUGH OF ALL THESE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SHIT!

When I get my driving license in November, I’m gonna buy a second hand car and forgo public transport.

Well, here are few of the car models that I have shortlisted.

EZLink card in hangbags

This morning when I reached Lakeside MRT station, I happen to saw one of the fare gate have a longer than usual queue. Managed to squeeze through to another fare gate to get myself into the MRT station.

When I turn around to see what was causing the long queue at the fare gate, I saw a woman turning her handbag 360º around to get her EZLink card to be detected by the card reader. When I was on the escalator heading up to the platform, that woman is still turning her handbag 360º. When I was on the platform, I continue to observe if she is still insisting on getting the card reader to scan her EZLink card that is inside her handbag, by this time she get the EZLink card out from her handbag and managed to get through the fare gate after causing a queue behind her and delaying others for about 1 to 3 minutes?

This ain’t the first time I have seen such brainless action and people without logical thinking causing a long queue and delay others at MRT station fare gate or at bus entrance.

If after a few try, the frigging EZLink card can’t be detected by the card reader, just move out of the queue and take out the EZLink card from the handbag and scan. Won’t that save the trouble of irritating people behind you?

Legalize Loanshark?

Took a cab to work today because I woke up late today due to my insomnia last night. While in the cab, the driver was listening to a Chinese radio channel and the DJ is discussing with call-in listeners about loan-sharks.

What’s interesting about the discussion is that some people from the legal profession actually suggested legalizing the loan-sharks trade so that there will be some form of control over loan-shark activities. When I heard it, I was surprised that there’s people giving suggestion in legalizing loan-sharks when in the first place are known for their high interest unsecured loans and hard tactic employed in getting back the amount loaned and high interest rate.

This topic came about because recently in Singapore, some households were harassed by loan-sharks. And these households are not the one that borrow monies from the loan-sharks, these households were targeted because their neighbor failed to make their payment to the loan-sharks, thus the loan-sharks harass these households into pressuring their neighbor to make the payment to the loan-sharks.

Due to this issue the Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs is considering making it an offence to borrow from loan-sharks.

But with the current bad economy situation and expected high unemployment rate, the unemployed will most likely turn to loan-sharks (besides pawning their valuables) to get some cash to tide them over these difficult period. Because no financial institutions or banks will give out unsecured loan to an unemployed unless they have some highly valuable items to put up for mortgage (e.g. properties).

And if the Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs is to make it into law that borrowing from loan-sharks is a penal code offence, that might just create another issue as the loan-sharks will make use of the loophole to threaten the borrower should he/she report to the authority he/she will also be committing an offence by borrowing from a loan-shark. Thus, the loan-shark might make use of the loaner who is unable to repay his debt to assist in illegal activities (e.g. being runner for the loan-shark, vice, robbery, etc).

If you are reading this blog post, do you think the loan-shark trade should be legalized in Singapore?
